About the Exhibition
The Tithe Church in Augmented Reality — experience Kyiv’s legendary shrine in a new way.
The oldest stone church in Kyiv — the Tithe Church, built in 996 — now comes to life in digital form. The eMuseum team has recreated the Church of the Holy Mother of God in augmented reality (AR), drawing on archaeological excavations from 2005–2011, historical plans, and scholarly reconstructions.
Experts from the National Museum of the History of Ukraine took part in the project, as well as artist Mykola Mazurenko, who created the 3D model of the church, and researchers Volodymyr Kolybenko and Olha Kyryliuk, who provided digital copies of museum artifacts. The initiative was launched by Dmytro Matiash, founder of the eMuseum organization.
In addition to the virtual reconstruction, the project includes 3D models of three crosses discovered during excavations of the shrine, as well as a bilingual audio guide (in Ukrainian and English) that tells the story of this unique place.
